Water pushes on land creating oceanscapes that are in a constant state of flux as wind, tide, and weather command. Light and shadow playfully shift as the sun moves across the sky while elegant sand patterns emerge from the rhythmic crashing of water on land, creating a mood and topography that constantly changes. Like the human experience, the ocean is never the same from day to day or even moment to moment. Big waves or little waves, the surface is never still while deep waters absent of light hint at mysteries dark and vast. Ancient and primal, the ocean is a place where I seek refuge that feels both familiar and eternal. (2015 – 2019)
